Why Battery Speakers Aren't Enough for a Crowd
True deep bass requires massive electrical current that battery technology can't yet deliver at professional volumes. Battery speakers cap out around 100–200W before sound quality deteriorates. For a crowd of 50+ people outdoors, you need 800W+ of mains-powered output — otherwise the music gets lost in open air.
Powering Our Speakers in a Park
Our JBL and Vonyx systems require a standard 240V wall outlet. If your park pavilion has public power points, you're set. If not, you'll need to hire an inverter generator (like a Honda 2000i). Critically, it must be an inverter type — standard construction generators produce "dirty" power that damages the sensitive digital amplifiers inside modern speakers.
Checking Park Power Before You Book
Most Melbourne council parks (including those in Dandenong, Glen Waverley, and Oakleigh) have powered pavilions available to book through the council website. Always confirm power availability before your event. If in doubt, contact us — we can advise on whether a generator is needed for your specific park.
